I'm a new believer, now what?
First of all, I am so excited that you made the decision to accept Jesus Christ into your heart! Your life will never be the same. I know it may be a lot to take in but just take your time, I have created several blogs to help you along the way. You are now part of the kingdom of God, there is a scripture that explains that you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9 NIV)This scripture is explaining the fact that God has specifically called you out and because you accepted the call you are now part of his kingdom set apart and royalty! That is good news! The verse also explains that you have now been brought out of darkness, from a place of not knowing God into a place light and understanding in God.
In the beginning, God created each of us to have relationship with Him. Often times we seek so many other things because we don’t realize the void we feel in our lives is a result of not having the relationship with God that we were created for. You see, God a gentleman, He will not force you to be in relationship with Him. He gave us free will, Revelation 3:20 explains, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” God is using a metaphor here, the door is actually your heart, if you choose to open your heart and let Him in then He will have a relationship with Him.
Now that you have opened your heart and let Him in you will begin to learn more and more about Him. I encourage you to start by spending small amounts of time daily in bible reading and prayer. This will help you to build a foundation in Christ that will be very rewarding. Check out the other articles in the this blog for gems that will assist you in your new walk with God.
